How Freehold compares.

Most tools do one thing. Freehold connects portfolio tracking, deal analysis, and off-market sourcing into a single intelligence platform built for independent investors.

Freehold is not a property management tool — it’s an intelligence platform. It works alongside your existing PM software (Stessa, Baselane, etc.) to give you the analytics layer they don’t provide.

Freehold vs Stessa

Stessa is excellent for bookkeeping and expense tracking. If you need to collect rent, manage leases, or prepare Schedule E reports, Stessa does that well — and it’s free. But Stessa doesn’t help you evaluate new deals, benchmark your rents against market, or identify underperforming properties. Freehold adds the intelligence layer that Stessa is missing. Many owners use both.

Freehold vs DealCheck

DealCheck is a solid deal calculator for quick property analysis. Freehold Acquire does the same thing — but adds portfolio-aware underwriting (how does this deal affect your existing portfolio?), market benchmarking, sensitivity analysis, and the Freehold Score. And unlike DealCheck, Freehold also tracks your portfolio’s ongoing performance after you buy.

Freehold vs AppFolio

AppFolio is built for professional property managers overseeing 50+ units with staff. It’s powerful — and expensive. If you’re an independent owner with fewer than 50 units, AppFolio is overkill. Freehold gives you institutional-grade analytics without the enterprise complexity or price tag.
